Eulogy
This is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do, but I am honored to speak about my Uncle, a man who meant so much to me. I have done a lot of reminiscing over the last couple of weeks thinking about all the good times and laughs we had with him. I remember as a child looking forward to spending the weekends at his house with my brother and cousins. He was always playing sports with us, constantly pushing us to be better. We all go our passion for sports from him. He sacrificed a lot to spend quality time with us.
I always enjoyed when him and my Dad and my Uncle Danny and Donald were together, telling stories of their younger days, stories that we heard many times before but those stories never got old. I especially enjoyed hearing them argue over sports. Those were some classic moments.
My brother and I were very fortunate to have our Uncle in our lives. When we were young kids our dad worked on the river and sometimes would be gone for weeks at a time, our uncle was always there providing for us. He treated us like his own kids which created the strong bond that we have today with our cousins, Richard, Ed and Danny. A bond that I’m grateful for at a time like this.
My uncle was a great provider for his kids. His kids meant the world to him. He did a great job raising them and providing them with the necessary tough love to become strong men. His hard work is evident by the fathers they have become.
The best thing that happened to my uncle was when he met Camille. She was what was missing in his life. I often told the two of them that if I ever got married I would model my marriage after theirs. Because of their meeting, I got a chance to form a bond with two other special people, my cousins Mike and Missy. I had a chance to coach Mike and Missy in Basketball with my uncle. The thing I learned the most from that experience was how much he loved the two of them. He provided for them and was very involved in every aspect of their lives. My family was very fortunate to have Camille, Mike and Missy become part of the family. We have had a lot of good times together.
The thing my uncle was most proud of in life was becoming a grandparent. He made many trips to
In closing, I would like to thank my uncle for creating the special relationship that the two of us had. I will never forget that.
I love you Uncle.

Ed and Camille met in September of 1982, As life’s circumstances would have it, they lost contact with each other for 3 years but Ed never stopped thinking of that woman he met at District Glass. Fate brought them back together in the Spring of 1985 and their journey began. Ed shared his story with Camille, how he never forgot about her those years that they were apart, how he asked God daily to give him one more chance to tell her how he felt, and how the song “Always On My Mind” continued to remind him that he wouldn’t rest until he found her again.
On December 23, 1990, when the time came for the two soul mates to become one in marriage, there was no doubt about which song best suited the occasion.
